Casillero del Diablo

Arise, lamentations of the damned
Below, the cauldron seething
The allegory of the abyss
Breath of Dante’s dulcet sweating

Into to the pit, the poet plunges
Weeping words from infernal pen
Flows blood-red wine from open vein
Upon fine cambric, stains

From legend and myopic myth
Fiendish crimson orbs agleam
Furtive fingers beckoning
The blackened knife tips scything

And resolute does the stylus scratch
Deep in hellish halls
Trembling walls take captive
Binding bard to vellum pale

A writhing wraith, her flaming veil
Dances ’round sinister stones
Her feet upon the frenzied pyre
Scatters tormented tomes

The quivered quill composes
To dispel ensorcelled charms
But into death the fabulist falls
Upon her febrile arms

O’ cursed Scribe, evermore the plume
And soul mate crepuscule dweller
Sightless vision within his brain
Bleeds madness in his cellar
