Sunrise

I paint your face With the rays of the sun Using colors only of gray The shadow of the mountains Plays across your face And a brief stab of sunlight Illuminates   The flickering tongues Creeping down the valley Open the yawning mouth Finding entry within The gold and yellow Flames ignite And awaken LiNdA

Vernal Equinox

Dance, Sister of Spring Dance with the God of Light Who has defeated his somber brother His victory has banished the night Dance, Mistress of Spring Dance with the shining Sun God Your lover’s golden fingertip Dispels the chill from your heart Dance, Maiden of Spring Dance with your Young Suitor He has suckled at the Great Mother’s breast And now yearns to drink your sweetness Dance, Daughter of Spring Dance with the Sons of the Earth Who lay waiting on soft green braes Their tongues craving your burgeoning fruit Dance, Belle of Spring Dance with the Aged Brethren Who lean upon crooked staffs And take delight in your pretty feet Dance, Lady of Spring Dance with the Young Maidens Who weave violets into your burnished hair And bestow sweet kisses upon your lips Dance, Goddess of Spring Dance with the mighty Aries His spiral horn sounds the season Already his seed is within you Dance, Woman of Spring Dance with joy and abandon Your time is announced And new life beckons LiNdA A dear friend, upon reading this poem, said it reminded her of the very magnificent masterpiece, “Primavera” (or “Allegory of Spring”) by Sandro Botticelli, done in 1482.  I feel I am in good company with this comparison!  Thank you, my...

Sonata

With grave intent, you enter within A solemn introduction To the art of love And then to given to Contentment of peaceful passages Until once more, Tragic and discordant, The crescendo plays out LiNdA On a trip up to Northern California this past month, I visited friends who have on their property this old burnt out house that was built earlier in the century.  Whilst exploring and peeking through the broken glass and the brambles that have taken over,  I came upon this piano from 1857, still exquisitely beautiful.

Mama Quilla

(Ceramic Sun/Moon wall hanging found at local garden store) She kisses his face Casting silver drips Upon scorching lips That consume her She strays too near But longs to taste The golden rays That escape his smile And she lies for a while In the arms of her god He reclines his head Upon her pale breast The heat of his chest Warms the darkling For there is no shining When it is her hour She holds him in her power Eclipsing now as they are LiNdA    ...
