A Gift from Alejandro In a volume of endless pages The poetry of a life well-imagined With cries of despair tinged with joy A never-ending kaleidoscope Which we view from a common thread This amaranthine floss connects our souls Reaching into the past and toward the future The present enjoined in the softest mesh Upon which we lay with legs entwined In a gossamer filament of purest light The rays of the Sun are behind the Moon Only silver shines in the darkest hour And the clouds hide the brilliance of gold Though its beauty does not wane For lack of spiritual eminence These morsels of radiant ingots Gleaming high above our darkened canopy Studded as starry currants in a baked bread From which we will eat our fill To sustain our love without end...
