Jodorowsky’s Tarot

Alejandro Jodorowsky with the Tarot de Marseille Image by Evan Sung, New York Times         Our metamorphosis Revealed in a card Borne in a pocket Drawn in Marseille The Surrealist Mime Bound upon gazing In our nature of existing As the Illuminating Star What was the terminus Is now the opening Through which we swim As gametes before cleaving And upon the joining The zygote we have become Will nest in moonlight Tinted with dreams Kissed by sacred clouds We are creating poetry A profound oeuvre The fulfillment of souls A prismatic panoply Laid out one by one By the Divine Reader Who nods in agreement LiNdA  ...

Moon, Mars and Meteors

6 x 9 Watercolor Joshua Tree, CA           A midnight sky of clouded scales Lightning bolts from a salmon stream Emerging from these golden eddies The gleaming vessels of Moon and Mars The silhouettes of secretive trees Propped against a sleeping mountain Awareness of our whispered breaths Consummates a desert yearning We are blue auras within the sheltered valley The fragmented skeletons of honored dead This holy place submerged in a chromosphere A bier illuminated by a persimmon lantern Grains of sand adrift impacted earth Our feet alight on a granular pillow The quiescent flora of an arid dream Yields the fragrance of wind-driven days So does the Meteor kiss the face of Nyx Above the deepest recesses of shadowed stone We are thus revealed from our hiding hollow And our trembling mouths drink the moonbeams...

An Unusual Spectacle

Depiction of possible aurora over Nuremberg, Germany 28 December 1560         Above the rooftop The Moon suspended Her gleaming mask Waning gibbous And there was dancing Beneath the Roman tiles For the ceiling as the floor Both planed from wood For a song dispersed To a bashful heart Carries a note Of just-pressed wine The stanza lingers Among billowing folds A forgotten message Pleads a whispered escape Wrapped in fleeting gauze A nimbus hovering O’er the distracted gaze Of your hidden eyes While the flickering tongues Of burning embers Soften the nature Of unyielding destiny A hypnotic trance Inhabits a darkened plum Your words echo sotte voce Under the spell of El Condór...

Follow the Dots

Flugblatt of Basel, 1566 Samuel Coccius Concerning celestial events seen in the sky 27-28 July and 7 August       (Dedicated to Yayoi Kusama) I see your reflection in my own Though I am here and you have flown Into a pinpoint universe Where our endless music plays The cunning spheres inhabit the plane For a moment they remain separate Though soon the beams will connect While a point projects in all directions Our souls in light years Burst from a binary star And we, the barycenter Look out from our smallness The intimate gourd surrounding The essential essence of existence We have tasted the fruit Inside the warming chamber Enclosed in a stark white box To feel the weight of the obscure We obliterate ourselves in dots The unending enigma of Infinity...

UFO

Woodcut, Hans Glaser Depicting an event at dawn, April 14, 1561 over Nuremberg, Germany         On a cloudless night With a mysterious quill Dipped in Midnight’s ink A message is emblazoned Across the Firmament The flashing lights graze The atramentous page A flickering display In the soft-moving vents Of a gentle Zephyr The luminous whisper Above the sleeping rooftops Under which we’ve emerged From our amethyst cocoon Has renewed us in alien bodies The lambent Crescent overhead Silently watches the flowing milk Swirling into glittering spheres While gossamer fingers gently grasp The frayed edges of ebony fabric There we wait, consecrated and anointed Immersed in star-like projections Yearning for the Western Passage For the feathery beams to cast downward And carry us to the distant Realm...

The Sanguine Eye

Andean condor             Blood of the mountain Coursing in freshet streams The panoramic vision merging Seekers of The Path Lethal wounds dressed in cruor Arise to burnished dawn The Way is set to shrouded feet An inverted passage Through crimson lashes A garnet torrent Beneath darkening blankets The reflection deeply drawn The distance ‘twixt luminous hearts Steadfast steps upon a granite bier Assures the time of Triumph nearing Over all the Sanguine Eye is cast For this passage of bittersweet dreams Foretells the golden homecoming...
