Dance, Sister of Spring Dance with the God of Light Who has defeated his somber brother His victory has banished the night Dance, Mistress of Spring Dance with the shining Sun God Your lover’s golden fingertip Dispels the chill from your heart Dance, Maiden of Spring Dance with your Young Suitor He has suckled at the Great Mother’s breast And now yearns to drink your sweetness Dance, Daughter of Spring Dance with the Sons of the Earth Who lay waiting on soft green braes Their tongues craving your burgeoning fruit Dance, Belle of Spring Dance with the Aged Brethren Who lean upon crooked staffs And take delight in your pretty feet Dance, Lady of Spring Dance with the Young Maidens Who weave violets into your burnished hair And bestow sweet kisses upon your lips Dance, Goddess of Spring Dance with the mighty Aries His spiral horn sounds the season Already his seed is within you Dance, Woman of Spring Dance with joy and abandon Your time is announced And new life beckons LiNdA A dear friend, upon reading this poem, said it reminded her of the very magnificent masterpiece, “Primavera” (or “Allegory of Spring”) by Sandro Botticelli, done in 1482.
