A Chief and His Tale

Manco Inca Yupanqui by Felipe Guamán Poma de Ayala, circa 1615 from “El primer nueva corónica y buen gobierno”         A fealty to the Crown of Spain In exchange for an honored name A tender agreement regretted From a sphere of escape To a siezing causatum Lo, the Inca weeps For he treated as brothers Those who rushed the dagger Rejoicing the absence of Fear Though Fear loomed quickly To an abrupt end of games And all fell upon the earth Hence we speak of three days The record of a favored son Yearning the bittersweet drops And this persistent memory Carried upon your feet To tread over yon threshold In the silence of dreaming vision The retelling of a relic emblem You have etched across my breast Above the canopied incline The ancient stone preserves The last utterance of life The mourning words assemble To emblaze upon the mineral Such is the allegory of an image LiNdA...

The Sanguine Eye

Andean condor             Blood of the mountain Coursing in freshet streams The panoramic vision merging Seekers of The Path Lethal wounds dressed in cruor Arise to burnished dawn The Way is set to shrouded feet An inverted passage Through crimson lashes A garnet torrent Beneath darkening blankets The reflection deeply drawn The distance ‘twixt luminous hearts Steadfast steps upon a granite bier Assures the time of Triumph nearing Over all the Sanguine Eye is cast For this passage of bittersweet dreams Foretells the golden homecoming...

Cosmos Echoes

GRB 110328A A 3.8 billion-light-year galaxy with a supermassive black hole that has swallowed a bypassing star. Image credit: NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, Wide Field Camera 3 April 4, 2011       A pale shimmer Beyond her darkened face A fragranced effusion Along a vaulted trajectory So far and away At last receiving Our hypnotic whispers The doomed star In a black hole’s grasp The fading light And flickering dust Burning out Her death cry A wrenching echo LiNdA        ...

Alice in the Looking Glass

Alice in the Looking Glass

If Alice were to look once more Through her looking glass Would she see you and me? Would we be upside down Or right side up Or sideways Lying on a bed of stars Under a blanket of grass Looking up at the Earth Would we begin at the end Or finish in the past With the middle replayed Does the candle’s drip Fall upward The wax no longer pooling The flush on the cheek Faded to a pink smile Of anticipation Would you be me And I, you Or are we mirror images Which makes for Interesting conversation With regard to intents and purposes Because as we know For all intents and purposes We speak the same language But your words would come Out of my mouth And mine from yours Each saying essentially The same thing only different Thus confusing poor Alice Who might pout and knit her brow Trying to make sense of The complete absurdity Which we both know Is a consequence Of living in a looking glass world For if we insist on making sense Then we wouldn’t have ended up here To begin with So what would be the point Of us falling down the rabbit hole In search of Alice in the first place? LiNdA...

Bliss, Where Art Thou?

Bliss, Where Art Thou?

Bristle Cone pine branches Bryce Canyon, Utah           Bliss, we will not follow It will find us In the quiet moment When we’ve been liberated By a new thought A different awareness An unfurled curiosity An unexpected path And all of these We explore in our unconsciousness And savor in our mouths With a flickering candle our witness Against a shadowed wall Next to an open window Granting a soft breeze That will dry the dewpoint...
