Enoch

Old oak tree
Cherokee Cemetery, CA

In the spirit of love
And enduring friendship
Is thus given a coin

A gift of peace
And we shall call it Enoch
Older than all we know

From a seed sprout
To branches spread wide
And roots dug deep

He reaches out
And pulls us in
A long embrace

Sprinkling our heads
With drops of dew
From his tear-filled eyes

Yet he knows
We shall never reveal
His secret place
