Æquinoctium Autumnale

The earth calls out
“Femina de Autumnitas,
ecce tuus hora”
and I rejoice in the golden sunlight
flickering gently to dusk

I dance naked beneath the amber glow
of the Harvest Moon
To honor the waning of days
that announce the return of darkness

My womb that once bore life,
Is filled now with wisdom and beauty
that comes only from
seasons spent in unity
with the earth

My breasts no longer suckle the newborn
yet with abundance are replenished
Strong and powerful, my limbs
grasp the heavens with a force untamed,
roots digging voraciously
Into the rich black soil below

My words are my children
and music pours forth like blood
from a body deep and mysterious
and a mind transcending the moment
Into infinite streams

My young lover returns
hesitantly at first
but then with renewed vigor
as one who remembers
the fire of an awakening
an embrace with embers of the earth
that smolder within me

He must replenish his soul
and partake of the fertile season
To eat of the fruits, mature and sweet
redolent with the scent of desire
and fuse with the center of a Being
in whom he finds truth

He has been chasing Spring and Summer
for he must spread his seed
But now I have breathed his name
through the smoky mists
and he heeds the call
of Autumn
