Solstitium Pluit

6th century mosaic pavement
Beit Alph Synagogue, Israel

In the longest night
An abundant sky
Sheds celestial tears
On a desolate planet

Wrapped in the arms
Of my astronomad
We orbit the Earth
On a lithic asteroid

Our Elysian chambers
Warmed by effluvium drifts
A deepening repose
For star-struck voyagers

The Solstice Star
Blinks noiselessly
A shimmering note
On our nebulaic bed

Then a headfirst plunge
Near the axial tilt
Clinging to stardrops
We return to Earth
