X 3.2

On August 31, 2012 a long filament of solar material erupted into space.  This image, taken by the Solar Dynamics Observatory, shows the breathtaking coronal mass ejection (CME)

93 million miles
745 miles per second
It would almost seem
In the blink of an eye

You travel on your solar flare
Arriving at my doorstep
Before I’ve had time
To put down my book

Or earmark the page
Explaining E = mc2
And other important theories
Of the Universe

But the event at hand
Is much more pressing
And appears to be based
On the Laws of Physics

Whereby a plume
Of plasma will eject
From a superheated
Celestial body

However, these particles
Won’t take three days
To reach us here
For we have already been scorched
