Sir Reel

Black and white images
Rhythmic chatter of a spool
Unwinding
They play out a scene of love

A silent movie
That is not so silent
Phrases and utterances
With foreign subtitles

On the outside
Looking in
And on the inside
Looking out

What is real
And what is dream
Real is illusion
And dreams omnipotent

A length of film
Caught in a flame
A melted cell
Drops to the floor

All that is left
Is the Unconscious

  1. I especially like “a melted cell drops to the ground”.

    • Reminds me of rainy days in school when the teacher would put on films for us to watch!
